KeepAbility is an initiative born from the combined vision of an experienced military veteran and military spouse, enriched by direct feedback from families living on the Keep.
Our mission is to significantly enhance the quality of life for forces families, serving members, and veterans residing in the vibrant community of Kingston.
KeepAbility goes beyond being a mere resource; it represents a commitment to harnessing the unique experiences and skills that military families bring, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between the Borough and its valued military community.Military families face unique challenges that can impact their quality of life, including social isolation, difficulties in accessing employment and training opportunities, and the pressures of the cost of living crisis. Recognising these hurdles, KeepAbility is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to address these critical issues head-on.
In our quest to offer holistic support, we are thrilled to announce a series of workshops coming soon. These sessions are thoughtfully designed to span 1 to 2 hours each, tackling a broad spectrum of essential topics—from work, training, and education opportunities to wellbeing and personal empowerment. Tailored to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of forces families and serving members, these workshops aim to equip our military community with the tools, knowledge, and connections necessary to thrive in Kingston and beyond.
We are proud to share that this project has received the support and sponsorship of the Royal Borough of Kingston Council and is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This collaboration highlights a shared vision and commitment to enriching the lives of military families. Sara Carter Training has spearheaded the development of this programme, working closely with the skilled team at FK Creative to craft this comprehensive information hub. Through KeepAbility, we envision a future where the military community in Kingston is not merely supported but celebrated for its invaluable contributions, resilience, and spirit of service.
The challenges military families face are real and multifaceted, but with initiatives like KeepAbility, we can work together to create a supportive environment that acknowledges and addresses these issues, ensuring a stronger, more integrated community.
